“梳着分头，穿着长袍，一派书生气打扮的年轻人，就是我的曾祖父荣耀先。”谈话间，荣耀先的曾孙女荣如侠拿起旧时的照片，如是介绍。
荣耀先是黄埔军校一期的学员，今年是黄埔军校建校100周年，中新网记者专访了荣耀先的曾孙女荣如侠，听她娓娓讲述其曾祖父荣耀先如何为革命输送了一批批蒙古族青年的故事。
荣耀先出生于内蒙古自治区呼和浩特市土默特左旗的一个蒙古族家庭。青年时期的他不仅专心学业，而且以极大的热情关注着风起云涌的社会变革。
1924年3月，中共北京执行委员会选送一批共产党员和进步学生前往黄埔军校考试，彼时在蒙藏学校读书的荣耀先就是其中的一名。
3月下旬的一天，他们登上了南下的列车，在广州经过严格的复试，最终荣耀先以优异的成绩被黄埔军校录取，成为黄埔军校第一期的学员。
“当时在黄埔一期学习的内蒙古籍学生只有两名。”荣如侠介绍，黄埔军校的生活节奏十分紧张，“3分钟起床穿好衣服，5分钟上完卫生间，10分钟吃完饭......因为曾祖父自幼在外读私塾，十几公里的上学路他一直是徒步往返，长期的艰苦生活使他很快就适应了军校的严格要求。”
1925年8月，荣耀先受黄埔军校委派，跟随曾在黄埔军校第一期任区队长的郜子举返回北京，为军校招收第四期学员。李大钊在北京接见了他们，嘱咐他们招生要保证质量、争取数量，严格保密。
荣如侠讲述，荣耀先带着招收热察绥(当时的热河省、察哈尔省和绥远省的合称)青年的任务回到了绥远。“这次回家，曾祖父已经阔别家乡两年多了，为了隐瞒身份，他从南方带回了帽子、篦梳、镜子、裹腿等货物冒充货郎。”
荣耀先的母亲流着眼泪问他：“你不是在北京读书吗？去南方干吗去了？”荣耀先说：“我在南方做买卖，把买卖做大了以后，咱家挣的钱就更多了。”母亲也摸不着头脑，但是她知道自己的儿子肯定是做利国利民的好事儿，所以打心眼儿里高兴。
本次共招收六七十名学员，其中荣耀先在绥远一共招了21名学员，都是黄埔军校四期生。史料记载，这是黄埔军校在热察绥招生最多的一次。
荣如侠告诉记者，除了为黄埔军校招收蒙古族学生，在蒙藏学校学习时，荣耀先还受学校委托回家乡招生。临行前，中共北方区委指示，要他尽可能多动员些贫苦蒙古族青年来北京读书，为革命积蓄新生力量。
荣耀先经过艰苦的动员，招收了李裕智、吉雅泰、多松年、乌兰夫等20多名学生，圆满地完成了党和学校交给他的任务。
“李大钊同志对我曾祖父本次的招生工作非常满意，称赞他为革命立了大功，他把这批蒙古族青年称为新生的力量、革命的财富。后来这一批蒙古族青年成长为内蒙古的第一批共产党员，是他们改变了内蒙古革命的走向。”荣如侠说道。
黄埔军校的军人氛围陶冶了荣耀先的戎马情怀，后来将自己的号一介，原意为“一介书生”，改为了“一介武夫”。诗曰：赳赳武夫，公侯干城。
荣耀先参加过东征战役和北伐战争，大大小小的战斗中，他始终冲锋在前，在枪林弹雨中屡建战功，被称为英勇善战的蒙古族营长。
第二次北伐战争中的1928年4月，荣耀先作为第六军突击团团长，带领部队从徐州出发向济南挺进，深入到黄河和运河交叉地区的时候，在激烈的战斗中不幸牺牲，年仅32岁。
谈及对于黄埔精神的理解，荣如侠表示：“黄埔精神在新的历史时期应得到继承和发扬，让青少年了解黄埔精神的历史背景和时代价值，从而在心中种下爱国的种子。”(完)
